Kaylee looks at Kate, a bit of confsion written on her face - she never was very good with history, antiques, or the things that made up Earth-that-Was. Phone sounds familiar, like it's something she heard in one of the classes before she wound up focusing on helping her daddy with his shop, but it's not familiar enough that she can jump at it. After all, the technology from her time is varied at best, to tell the truth. There are some things that were carried forward from Earth-that-was and some that just weren't. "We ain't got none of that in space, though I bet some planets do - maybe the ones that's with the Alliance." Kaylee muses out loud, attention turning to the man.

His demeanor reminds her of Jayne, which doesn't make her feel as terrible in this situation - even if it makes her miss the gruffest member of her crew.

"It ain't a mirror, it's components, computer parts, and stuff - real fancy tech. I been to some planets where they use birds, but I thought they were pigeons or something like that..." Kaylee says, shrugging off Sandor Clegane's words, but not totally jarred by anything just yet. To her it would seem like whoever has taken them - maybe the Alliance - has taken them all from different planets with different set-ups and situations and wealth and all that. It doesn't even surprise her that the other woman might not have heard about Earth-that-was...if only because it's a dead planet with old history that isn't really important now because there are new problems and newer, probably more important, history.

"I'm definitely keen on getting outta here - I gotta get back to my crew and I ain't gonna let a song scare me off neither." Kaylee reassures, tugging and pulling at her dress again. "Though, I wish I knew what happened to my real clothes cause this ain't cutting it." There's an ease to Kaylee's interactions, and how she speaks because she's always been quick to trust, and working with other people has always been part of the deal as a crewmember of Serenity. Plus, the way she sees it they're in this together for the moment. There isn't a thought that one of them might be a plant or anything else - nor is there one that they can't get out of here.

She has no idea what they're about to face.
