I've been thinking the same thing, but I genuinely have no idea how to actually even go about answering any of those questions - all I keep coming up with are even more questions to add on top.
I think the house is terrifying on purpose, but that doesn't make it any less so. I've lost the person that I woke up with too, but wait - a plant literally grabbed you? I have a feeling we're going to have a lot of things within the house that we're going to have to be on the lookout for and to be wary of if that's any indication. And, honestly, if the house being so terrifying isn't meant as a distraction, or to keep us complacent, what other options are there? Psychological study? Survival? I mean, every question you can ask there is both even more to worry about and worse than the last one. I know exactly what you mean, though.
